Long lists exist of works on the history, politics, and philately of Austria, and even if restricted to those in English they are still long. The most helpful sources of philatelic information are:

- Specialised Catalogues by ANK, Michel, and SG.
- Ferchenbauer 2008 but only for the Imperial stamps that were overprinted.

- The regulations issued by the Post Office - the Postverordnungsblatt - are available in the library of Vienna's Technical Museum (check opening times especially over national holidays; if you know what you want, order it before you go); and also in the Ferdinandeum at Innsbruck (ditto).
